@Ravi & Gilbert: On the x540 volume control, there's a "Matrix" button that can help you "fake" 2.1 sounds into 5.1, so that even the rear speakers play.

However, I found that the quality is not very good.

The Audigy 5.1 has a CMSS feature that does the 2.1 -> 5.1 thing better. At least it feels like 5.1 sound.

But the best solution is to use software that can do the upmixing.

For music, I use Foobar 2000 + a plugin called Channel Mixer that supports upmixing 2.1 to 5.1, and provides quite a few options. The end result is really awesome!

For movies, I use Media Player Classic. From Options -> Audio Switcher, you can customize options to have sounds duplicated on your rear speakers. This solution doesn't replace real 5.1 movies, but it's good enough for me.

Try those and see what you like.

Its only today that I have installed my rear speakers because I did not have enough cable before. My settings for the speaker is set to 5.1. Running the speaker is test all is fine. But the 2 rear don't process sound from windows media player or other software. This is really annoying!!!

by the way how much better is your SoundBlaster Audigy SE 5.1 compared to integrated 5.1, does it also convert all 2.1 sound to 5.1 automatically? cause my integrated one don't do things like that =$

Hm check Windows (or other OS) Speaker configuration? Whether it's 2.1. You need to set it on 5.1. I think that's your problem, considering your PS and last point.

On Windows 7 -> Right-click sound icon in tray -> Playback devices tab -> Select your soundcard -> Configure button.

Next, check if the jack or wire is faulty.

Also, check your driver options for your soundcard.

Finally, recheck your wiring. Check if you plugged everything right. Check if when you plug the jacks, whether they are loose (you can move them around when in the socket).

hey guys i just bought my x540 from fastclick yesterday and i'm having problems with one of my front satelite, only when i put the green jack 3/4 way in the subwoofer that i hear sound coming from both front satelite should i return it or what??

PS: i'm using onboard sound card with windows 7 and even when having sound coming from both front satelite one of the front satelite don't make noise when when testing sound setup.

i have also notice that the rear one don't play voices... is it normal or should i buy a good 5.1 sound card?
