Checking the comments I saw 4 new comments and they were all spams. I need to activate Akismet to deal with the spammers. Do not forget to share your spam comments.

Also, it seems we have new kinds of spam comments now. Those s.o.b of spammers are very crafty! They put a legit message in the body, and then, put their links as the URL field. This effectively kills the protection offered by most spam-detection plugins.

I’ll put Akismet up today, to see what it can do. Let’s hope for the best. And my greatest F.U to all the spammers out there! F.U S.O.B’s!

I recently mentioned that Internet Explorer and Microsoft were afraid of other browsers. Remember that 10k competition thing?

Well, Microsoft has done it yet again! Only this time, it’s a lot more funny and weird. And the amount of lolz just got way higher! See for yourself! And the Digg source.

1. Yeah right. IE is more secured than both Chrome and Firefox. I wonder where all those vulnerabilities come from. All those ActiveX nasty stuff. Yeah. IE is indeed secured.
2. In-Private browsing? Ever heard of Chrome’s Incognito mode? Firefox’s new Privacy mode? Or what we call “the porn mode”? Another set of ticks missing here!
3. IE is easy to use? Since when? Accelerators? Try SmarterFox. Chrome is fast enough as is!
4. At least they got some humility to say that Firefox 3 is better. But still, I doubt IE8 is better at standards. Remember that ACID3 test?
5. Developer Tools? I dunno. Can’t comment. But I know nothing beats Firebug and Web Developer Toolbar combined!
6. Reliability. Firefox will soon have tab/process management, don’t worry IE. Chrome already has it.
7. Customizability: Many of the things I want? Right out of the box? Gimme the features of a fully-featured RSS reader directly in IE (Brief?). Or coloured tabs (Colourful Tabs). Or a powerful download manager (DownThemAll). I can even write my own, or customize existing ones! Stop hating Firefox, MS! Give some love to the Fox!
8. Compatible with more sites on the Internet than any other browser? For real? And that ACID3 test again? And the non-respect of standards?? Don’t make me laugh! Opera is the best in compatibility imho!
9. Manageability: What do they mean here? I can’t understand.
10. Performance: Why isn’t Safari here? I heard it’s the fastest of them all.

Overall, IE is bluffing. But hey, more lolz for us! Who are we to complain? I’d so like to see Firefox 3.5 soon. Hey, why not Firefox 4? Let’s see IE fight that!

Seems TechCrunch is poking some fun at IE8 too!

Internet Explorer 8 Lolz: Act 2

Hey readers, check out what I found in my feeds today! It’s a competition hosted by Microsoft! 10K prize money offered. The catch? You need to have Internet Explorer 8. The ad in itself is really funny, almost laughable. It seems Microsoft is really scared about losing market share to Firefox especially, and other browsers considering the tone of the ad. I’ve included a copy below, and for your viewing pleasure, here’s the original link.

A small comment: Since the page can only be opened in IE8 which got a lousy score in ACID3 test, it the page where the money is hidden must be so quirky that Firefox refuses to even find it! Also, note point #2! “Microsoft’s best ever browser” but not simply “best ever browser”. Does Microsoft itself know that its browser is not the best out there?

Is Microsoft THAT afraid of Firefox?

September marks the 10th anniversary of the godlike search engine Google, repository-of-the-Internets-and-universal-knowledge *bows*. However, the exact date seems to be a variable! More info on that at Techcrunch.

The folks with the “Don’t be evil” motto want to celebrate their creation’s birthday by helping the world. So? They have launched a project called “Project 10 to the 100th”, or Project 10100. Quite a Googlish-name if you ask me!

Basically, you suggest some ideas that will help the greatest number of people possible, in any way possible (or so I guess). Then, you go on that website above, and post it there. You may even post a 30-seconds video to back your concepts.

Then? Google has put aside $10 million to kickstart the Top 5 ideas it receives. The public will be able to short select 20 semi-finalist ideas, and a board will select the Top 5 out of those.

There are a number of categories in which you can participate, which are (as listed on the Project 10100 page):

• Community: How can we help connect people, build communities and protect unique cultures?
• Opportunity: How can we help people better provide for themselves and their families?
• Energy: How can we help move the world toward safe, clean, inexpensive energy?
• Environment: How can we help promote a cleaner and more sustainable global ecosystem?
• Health: How can we help individuals lead longer, healthier lives?
• Education: How can we help more people get more access to better education?
• Shelter: How can we help ensure that everyone has a safe place to live?
• Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don’t fit into any category at all.

That’s basically it. Now you can go suggest some ideas if you have some, or pass the message around. The closing date for ideas submission is 20th October!

Google turns 10, Wants to help people with $10m

CSS came to life and everyone ran after it. It made the world more beautiful. The creative department screamed day and night in quest for a better layout. After this nobody ever wondered what would happened if we were stripped of the few CSS lines. Dustin Diaz, was the one who wanted to make us realise how far CSS has been embedded in our life.

Born in 2006, CSS Naked Day became if not very famous, quite famous from a mere 763 participants to 2014 in year 2008. This is quite a boost.

Nowadays, CSS has become the industry standard. I can still remember my cousin saying, “forget these HTML code, CSS is waiting for you”. Today, while pondering I am willing to say “HTML and CSS makes it more feminine. Strip the clothes and get the goods” Am I right for this one?

There have been a number of plugins and ways to get you naked. See you next April, not for being “April Fool” but for being Naked.
