Orange FUP in News on Sunday!

Finally, the issues about FUP have hit the local newspapers! Guru just sent me a scan of the article, and here it is, for you to feast on!

This article brought me out of my temporary blogging hibernation (due to exam), but had to blog on it! I couldn’t resist! I must thank News On Sunday for publishing the article and Yannick Rivet for reading Mauritian blogs, and considering our opinions. At least, we now know that Mauritian bloggers are being taken seriously!

Btw… Congrats CarrotMadMan! Your title (Stab in the back) goes to print! πŸ˜€

Here is Mr. Avinash Meetoo’s heavily commented and discussed post about FUP. I’m really sorry since I forgot mentioning this great article.

  • Thanks for the up! πŸ˜›

Great to see that the papers do keep up with the Mauritian blogs! πŸ˜€
    (MU Blogs FTW!!) πŸ˜›

  • Hi,

Thanks for scanning the article and putting it online.

  • only 1% of 28,500….

    only 28,500?

and here I thought they were having the difficult task of handling a huge demand.

if all of us were downloading at 256 kbits simultaneously (which we obviously can’t) that would still be about 8 gigabits/second. which on the scale of the SAFE line+sattelites+whatever can’t be that bad.

Ohh shish! I made a big mistake! I forgot to mention Mr. Meetoo’s FUP article! :s

    This has been amended! πŸ™‚

  • Guru

I can’t just figure out, how can a 1% heavy downloaders eat up all their bandwidth.

πŸ˜€ , we got a special guest over here. Next year we will be doing lectures with you sir I believe. πŸ˜€

  • Bilbo

1% of heavy downloaders can just be handed over to the police and get what they deserve! πŸ˜€

  • New theme? πŸ˜€

    This one’s better! πŸ˜›

  • Guru

@Bilbo That a stupid comment. Who wants to have an ADSL and go over to hi5?

@Carrotmadman6 I was thinking this one is a better theme
    http://www.der-prinz.com/2008/01/20/wordpress-magazine-style-theme-branfordmagazine/
It is more content oriented. :p But InF insisted on the current one. πŸ˜€

  • InF

@Bilbo: We respect other’s opinions, but what I do with my connection is my issue. My use may seem “abusive” for you, but for me, it could be perfectly normal. And since I’m paying my monthly fee just as the “casual user”, I’ve got full right to use my connection fully. If the casuals don’t have enough speed, well, they could upgrade their package, or move to another ISP, or even the ISP could increase their network capacity to satisfy everybody.

@Carrot: Thanks! Regarding the theme, Branford Magazine, it was a bit too complex for my tastes, and it was too bland. Lack of colour… So I went for this one, and customized it a bit! πŸ™‚

  • Guru

The colour was not a problem. You can customise. It was just perfect for the readers. Lets put it within quotes. But, I could say optimised. With everything with eyes reach. We did not have to scroll down and find articles. They are right in front of you. From let to right, and top to bottom that the eye movements you needed. And no space to spare.

You are right InF. I can only say, Mauritius the paradise island, la petite ile touristique, repectons vivons commes des touristes. :p The internet provided would have been called classy 20 years back. Bottled mind will always be bottled. Those who restrict are the ones that think in a restricted manner. Well I am not pin pointing. If you feel like being targeted, time for change. πŸ˜›
